We specialize in backyard vineyards - taking the time to help you grow.

Since 2012, through research and development, we’ve perfected tissue culture techniques to sustainably propagate grapevines in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada.

Our 2024 Spring Collection:

Although our research includes over 30 varieties that will eventually be made available, next year we will be offering the following four main popular cold-hardy wine varieties (two whites and two reds) and several others:

Whites

L’Acadie Blanc

If you’re not absolutely sold on a particular variety or have any doubt whatsoever about which variety to try first, we strongly recommend starting with L’Acadie Blanc. It is quickly becoming known as the Canadian workhorse of wine grapes. This cold climate superstar has been nicknamed Nova Scotia’s Chardonnay from the rich, full bodied and flavorful wine it produces.

Vidal Blanc

Vidal is best known for producing exceptional ice wine in Canada. Its winter hardiness and ability to withstand deep freezes in dormant months makes it an excellent choice for the amateur. While it does produce enough sugars to make dry wine, its specialty is ice wine production.

Reds

Leon Millot

While cooler climates are not necessarily known for producing exceptional reds, if you’re determined to make it happen, Leon Millot would be an excellent variety to start with. It’s production potential and cold-resistance makes it an ideal candidate for the amateur.

Baco Noir

A cold hardy red comparable to Pinot Noir. It’s known to be grower-friendly and is one of the most successful hybrids in North America. If making red wine in Canada is your goal, Baco Noir should be on your short list. Some characteristics of the Baco Noir include: dark fruit, full body, soft, smoky tannins, produces round, full-flavoured wine, does not express the undesirable distinctive “foxy” aroma common to many hybrids.
